History and Establishment

The IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) – Nigeria Section Chapter was officially established on February 7, 2023, following approval from the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board. The chapter was created to serve as a hub for professionals, researchers, and students in the field of power electronics, providing opportunities for knowledge sharing, technical advancements, and professional networking.

Membership and Engagement

The chapter welcomes members from different IEEE grades, including Students, Associates, Members, Senior Members, and Fellows, with strong participation from both academia and industry. It actively collaborates with IEEE affinity groups such as Young Professionals (YP) and Women in Engineering (WIE) to foster diversity, inclusion, and career development.

Key Activities and Initiatives

Since its inception, the IEEE PELS Nigeria Section Chapter has organized a series of technical events, workshops, and industry visits, aiming to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world industrial applications.

Leadership and Future Plans

The IEEE PELS Nigeria Section Chapter is driven by dedicated professionals and volunteers committed to advancing power electronics technology in Nigeria and beyond. The chapter continues to strengthen partnerships with IEEE PES Nigeria Chapter, the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), and industry stakeholders, aiming to:
