The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Communication Society Nigeria Chapter has commissioned an ICT Village Hub for the provision of free Internet services to students and staff of the Faculty of Computing and information Technology Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa, Nigeria. The grant #23‐COMHTB‐03 was fully funded by the IEEE ComSoc and Humanitarian Technologies Board (HTB) of the IEEE. The faculty of computing and Information Technology (FCIT) which took-off in 2021/2022 academic session with four (4) Departments and four (4) Undergraduate programmes during the first year of its establishment. Currently the faculty offers Bachelor degree programmes in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology and Software Engineering, with an enrolment of 613 students across all the levels.

The Project Lead, Prof Nasir Faruk, who is the Chair IEEE ComSoc Nigeria and the Dean Faculty of CIT, SUL, stated that the project was successfully executed. Network Infrastructure were deployed to provide free WiFi Internet services to staff and students 24/7. Network operations center was also established to monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues, which was established inside the radio science observatory located within the same faculty building. The aim of the maintenance center is to be conducing regular preventive maintenance activities.  A help desk was also established to provide technical support to end-users, conduct periodic network upgrades to improve performance and add new features.
