Dear Members of the IEEE ITSS Italian Chapter,
I am writing to inform you that on 23, 24 and 25 October 2024 we will organize the national Chapter event in Genoa (23 October) and the 3rd IEEE ITSS R8 Chapters event 2024 (24 October, 25 October morning). The headquarters will be that of CIELI (Italian Center of Excellence on Logistics, Transport and Infrastructure), Via Francesco Vivaldi, 5, 16126, Genoa.

The national event on 23 October will follow the format of the previous editions (2022 in Naples, 2023 in Rome) which I briefly summarize below:

  • Late morning: institutional greetings and presentations of the finalists of the “IEEE ITSS – Italy Best PhD Dissertation Award”
  • Afternoon: ound table on port logistics, invited speaker to be defined, announcement of the prize winner

The 3rd IEEE ITSS R8 Chapters event 2024 will follow a format similar to that of the two previous events (2022 in Madrid, 2023 in Berlin) and will see as participants the members of the 9 ITS Chapters currently present in Region 8, i.e. Austria, Benelux, Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Kenya, Serbia and Montenegro, Spain, Tunisia. The program will include:

  • 2 invited keynote speakers (one from R8 and one from outside R8)
  • 1 poster session
  • some technical sessions
  • 1 round table on “New technology advances for intermodal freight logistics”
  • 1 hybrid session with Chapter Chairs external to R8 to discuss Chapter best practices and define guidelines for the creation of new Chapters

Like previous years, the IEEE ITSS R8 Chapters event will be supported by the ITS Society which has approved the possibility of financing various fellowships for participants’ travel expenses (maximum $700 per person). Some of these grants will also be awarded to Italian members who participate in the event. For this reason I ask you to inform me, by July 20th, if you are interested in participating in this event and taking advantage of the fellowship.
