The Italian Chapter of IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society

The Italian Chapter of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Society was established in February 2021 with the main goal of strengthening and promoting the development of ITS in the scientific community, industries, and institutions at the national level. Since the very beginning, this community has shown to be very large and active in the area, with a lot of volunteers interested to be part of the group and willing to help in the different organizing activities of the Chapter. Enlarging the number of members and increasing awareness about ITS will contribute concretely to the growth of sustainable mobility and smart transportation systems in our territory.

Mission and Vision

In agreement with the IEEE ITSS mission and vision, the main objectives of the Italian Chapter are the creation of a collaborative environment allowing the establishment or reinforcement of cooperation among members, the involvement of young students and researchers, and the communication of the main activities and innovative results to the stakeholders in the field of intelligent transportation systems (public institutions, private companies, associations). These goals are achieved through the organization of events (seminars, workshops) involving experts and prominent leaders, awards (for Ph.D. dissertations, best papers, or other aspects deemed crucial at the national level), and dissemination activities towards the external community.

Il Chapter Italiano della IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Society è stato istituito nel febbraio 2021 con l’obiettivo principale di rafforzare e promuovere lo sviluppo degli ITS nella comunità scientifica, nelle industrie e nelle istituzioni a livello nazionale. Fin dall’inizio, questa comunità si è dimostrata molto numerosa ed estremamente attiva sul territorio, con molti volontari interessati a far parte del gruppo e disposti a partecipare alle diverse attività organizzative. L’allargamento del numero dei soci e l’aumento di consapevolezza sulle tematiche ITS contribuiranno concretamente allo sviluppo della mobilità sostenibile e dei sistemi di traporto intelligente sul nostro territorio.

Missione e Visione

In accordo con la missione e la visione dell’IEEE ITSS, i principali obiettivi del Chapter Italiano sono la creazione di un ambiente collaborativo che promuova ed estenda la cooperazione tra i membri, il coinvolgimento di giovani studenti e ricercatori, nonché la comunicazione delle principali attività e dei più recenti risultati innovativi agli stakeholders operanti nell’area dei sistemi di trasporto intelligenti (istituzioni pubbliche, aziende private, associazioni). Questi obiettivi vengono raggiunti attraverso l’organizzazione di eventi (seminari, workshop) che coinvolgano esperti e leader di spicco, la definizione di premi (per tesi di dottorato, best paper o altri aspetti ritenuti cruciali a livello nazionale) e attività di divulgazione verso la comunità esterna.
