2024 IEEE ITSS R8 Chapters Meeting
2024 IEEE ITSS R8 Chapters Meeting
24th October – 25th October @Genova
The main goal of the IEEE ITSS R8 Chapters Meeting is to encourage collaboration among universities, industry, research institutions and authorities working in ITS within Region 8. This meeting is the third edition of ITSS R8 Chapters Meetings which will host representatives of 11 ITS Chapters of R8: Austria, Benelux, Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Kenya, Norway, Serbia & Montenegro, Spain, Tunisia, UK & Ireland. Interactive sessions and discussions among participants will allow to reinforce the cooperation among members of different Chapters and to establish new relations with attendants that are not involved in IEEE ITSS. One of the main goals of this event is then to reach students, researchers, other stakeholders in the field of ITS (public institutions, private companies, associations), to increase awareness about ITS in local communities and to form interest groups as a base for common research projects.
In 2024, the IEEE ITSS Annual R8 Chapters Meeting will take place in Genova, Italy, on the 24th October – 25th October.
The event will see as participants the members of the 9 ITS Chapters currently present in region 8, i.e. Austria, Benelux, Cyprus, Germany, Italy, Kenya, Serbia and Montenegro, Spain, Tunisia.

Keynote Speakers
Arnaud de La Fortelle has been director (2008-2021) of the Center for Robotics of Mines Paris (PSL University). He was General Chair of the IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium 2019 in Paris, he was a member, and then president of the French ANR scientific evaluation committee for sustainable mobility and cities. He serves regularly as an expert for European research programs. He co-founded Heex Technologies in 2019 and moved to a full-time position there as CTO in 2021. He designed the vision and the technology behind Smart-Data Management. Smart-Data is a powerful way to address current and future Big Data limitations, especially needed for autonomous systems.
Jonas Mårtensson is Professor of Automatic Control with applications in Transportation Systems at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He is the director of the Integrated Transport Research Lab (ITRL), a multi-disciplinary research center on sustainable transport systems in collaboration with Swedish industry and public actors. He has a broad research interest evolving around efficient and sustainable transport systems including cooperative traffic control and control of connected and automated vehicles, with a particular interest for freight and heavy vehicles.
