Influence of Sensor Accuracy on Electrical Vehicle Drivetrain Performance

Brief Abstract

The electrification of vehicle propulsion systems poses new challenges to the development departments of the global automotive industry and its major suppliers. The development of electric motors into highly efficient and reliable drives will proceed in the next few years in a similar way to what has been observed with combustion engines in recent decades. The presentation will show the influence of sensors used for commutation in the feedback loop of Field oriented control on electric drivetrain performance by means of complete simulations of a Nissan Leaf-type traction machine.

Brief Bio

Dipl.-Ing Ulrich Marl graduated as Mechanical Engineer at Ruhr University Bochum in 1993. After working as consultant for 7 years he joined Lenord + Bauer as quality manager. In 2009 he became the head of production, followed by the position of general manager of production for 8 years. In 2018 he decided to face a new business challenge and changed the position into sales department to conquer the worldwide market for upcoming electrical vehicle. Based on fundamental technical experience and excellent knowledge of production and quality management method he is an excellent point of contact for many engineers in the automotive R&D departments around the world.
