IEEE ComSoc Lebanon 2025 Workshop Series: Distributed Algorithms for Modular Robots
LaRRIS, Faculty of Sciences, Lebanese University, Fanar, Lebanon, Lebanon[] Self-Reconfigurable Modular Robots consist of multiple robotic modules that can attach to and detach from each other. By moving relative to their neighbors, they can transform from one configuration to another, enabling adaptive and flexible behaviors. Each module has its own communication and computation capabilities, forming a distributed system. Programming these robots involves designing efficient distributed algorithms, where each module runs the same program to collectively achieve a global objective. In this workshop, we will explore the principles of distributed algorithms for modular robots. Participants will design and implement a self-reconfiguration algorithm in simulation using VisibleSim, a dedicated simulator for modular robotics.
