Dear members of the IEEE Lebanon Section,

As part of its preparations for the elections at the Section, chapter, and affinity group levels, the “Nominating Committee” consisting of Mr. Ghassan SHABAN, Prof. Hadi SAWAYA, and Prof. Bachar El HASSAN invites all members who wish to participate in the elections as nominees or voters to read the below text carefully and advise the Committee of their nominations or any other election-related concerns.

The Committee announces the opening date of nominations to be August 3, 2022, and the closing date and time of nominations to be November 4, 2022 at 11:55 pm, in accordance with the IEEE bylaws.

Furthermore, and in accordance with the official registration of the Section with the Lebanese Government, the positions to be elected by the IEEE Lebanon Section members are the following:

  • Chair
  • Vice-chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Accountant
  • Representative to the Government

The date set for the elections is Saturday, December 17, 2022. Therefore, and in accordance with Lebanese law, all members who wish to cast a vote during elections should have paid the Lebanese registration fees (10,000 Lebanese Pounds) three months before the date of the elections. Thus, the final date for receiving the fee of 10,000 LL is Friday, September 16, 2022. To pay the registration fees, please contact the Treasurer of the Section Dr. Jacques Demerjian jacques.demerjian@ul.edu.lb. Please also note that Section members should have paid their dues to the IEEE for the year 2022 to be able to vote.

There will also be elections for seven additional officers of the Section and officers of the Society Chapters and Affinity Groups. We are considering the options of either having these elections on the same day (Saturday, December 17, 2022), or online using IEEE vtools. The seven positions for the Section and the positions for the various Society Chapters and Affinity Groups are as follows:
