In order to provide wider opportunities and more benefits to our technical community, the Lebanon Section signed a MoU with the International Education Association (IEA) on October 7, 2017, iea.org.lb. IEA’s mission is to engage educators and youth in quality, creative, and collaborative learning, making use of digital technologies through real-life projects that contribute to a more humane and equitable world. It aims at enhancing the learning and teaching processes through the effective use of digital technologies so that educators and youth acquire the skills necessary to excel in a globally competitive world. Through its Coder-Maker Program, IEA enables teacher and students to acquire computational thinking and entrepreneurship. For the purpose of this MoU, IEA is engaged to provide the following:

  • Empower IEEE Volunteers taking part in the Coder-Maker Volunteers Program:
    • Provide training sessions to improve their skills in: coding, making, management, community work, presentation, and other as deemed necessary by IEA
    • Provide Training of Trainer modules to enable the participating Volunteers to deliver the content and activities of the Coder-Maker, or any other IEA program that would be part of a specific agreement
    • Provide certificates to the volunteers who successfully complete the courses and the agreed upon training activities
  • Whenever possible and within IEA’s availability, provide access to acquire Raspberry­­­ Pi and electronics items to all IEEE Student Branches, upon request from the students.
