We will explore the intersection between technology and multiple sensors and how cloud storage and statistical analyses can allow teams to make their core processes more efficient while creating space for generating new knowledge. Starting first with proper data etiquette, the talk uses a practical load monitoring use case and is structured in the following steps: collection, cleaning, modelling, evaluation, and visualization. Lastly, we will envision what could be possible with current technological developments and how to avoid any pitfalls when communicating the importance of a data-driven approach to operational decision making.

Sudarshan (Suds) is one of many sport data scientists in forward thinking clubs trying to make sense of the data clubs collect. During his time at Microsoft, he helped develop an athlete management tool for the Seattle Seahawks and consulted for many European football teams. During his time at SL Benfica, he has had the privilege to focus on streamlining current workstreams as well as expanding the lens of what’s possible to achieve in terms of analysis. The combination of his time at a tech giant such as Microsoft coupled with his experience of being inside of a club allows him to see the potential of combining his technology expertise with his peer’s subject matter expertise.
