Monitoring the training status of soccer players with wearable sensors

The assessment of the various training aspects that may help to gain an insight into athletes’ dose-response relationships to training has been the holy grail of coaches and sport scientists for decades. The reasons for such interest lie in the need for individualised training to both improve performance and decrease injury risk. In the course, we will walk you through current state-of-the-art methods to monitor training loads and associated response to the load using wearable sensors in soccer.

Mathieu Lacome - Biosketch

Mathieu Lacome is the Head of Research & Innovation at Paris Saint-Germain with a major focus on Sports performance, technologies and innovation processes. He worked as Sports scientist for Paris Saint-Germain’s first team for four years. Prior to this he spent seven years at the French rugby union as Strength & Conditioning coach, sports scientist and Head of Athlete monitoring. Throughout his career, Mathieu developed a passion for Data Visualization using tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Mathieu has published more than 30 international peer-reviewed papers on the topic of sports science. He is the co-founder of the open-access journal Sports Performance & Science Reports growing to more than 100 scientific papers and 10,000 followers on Twitter.
