In the framwork of the IEEE Photonics Conference (IPC), flagship meeting of the IEEE Photonics Society, that will be held from 10-14 November 2024 in Rome (Italy) our chapter propose a special session for the Photonics Industry Focus:
IPC- Photonic Opportunities – European Government Organizations
The session will illustrate R&I strategic funding opportunities for the sector of photonics and some of the main ongoing initiatives presently supported by the European Government.

Jason Jung
Policy Officer at the European Commission
Jason Jung is a Policy Officer at the European Commission, focusing on the European microelectronics and photonics industrial strategy, particularly the European Chips Act. Previously, he led a microfabrication team in a quantum computing start-up and conducted research in nanotechnology across Europe. He holds a PhD in Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology.
Valerio Pruneri
ICFO – Barcelona, Spain
Valerio Pruneri is an ICREA Prof. and Corning Inc. chair, leading the Optoelectronics group at ICFO. Previously he worked for Avanex Corporation, Corning OTI and University of Southampton. He is inventor in more than 65 granted/pending patent families. He is co-founder and board member of Quside, Luxquanta and Sixsenso.

Roberta Ramponi
IFN-CNR, Italy
Senior research associate of IFN-CNR that she directed 2013-2022. She was president of EOS (2006-2008) and ICO (2017-2021). Since 2023 she is vicepresident of Photonics21. Research focused on optics, photonics, fs-laser micromachining, quantum technologies. She is Fellow of OPTICA, EOS, International Fellow of COS, Honorary Member of EOS, 2020 OPTICA Robert Hopkins Leadership Award recipient.
