The IEEE Women in Photonics (WIP) initiative and the IEEE Photonics Fund have established Student & Post Doc Travel Grants to encourage participation from women at the 2017 IEEE Photonics Conference (IPC 2017), taking place October 1-5, 2017 in Orlando, Florida USA.

The IEEE Photonics Society will award up to 15 students with $2,000 USD grants each. Plus, the IEEE Photonics Fund will award up to 8 additional students with grants at $2,000 USD each. A total of 23 grants!

The grant funds are intended to be used for travel, lodging expenses and registration to the IEEE Photonics Conference.

An applicant should be:

  1. A full-time degree-seeking student, i.e. undergrad or graduate, or Post Doctoral candidate.
  2. An IEEE Photonics Society member.
  3. Sponsored by an advisor or professor.

During IPC 2017, grantees will be required to attend special professional development programming. Details to come.

The IEEE Photonics Society WIP Travel Grants committee will notify the recipients approximately 6 to 8 weeks prior to the conference date.
