WiE Volos (Women In Engineering from Volos, Greece) is a non-profit affinity group of the IEEE University of Thessaly Student Branch.

Many women around the world are being deprived of basic rights, such as the freedom of pursuing their goals in education and career choices.This is why, our vision is to bring attention to these sensitive subjects, so all women can have equal rights regarding their future in the workforce.

WiE Volos believes that values and ideas are formed from an early age so we have made it our mission to spread the idea that engineering is for everyone that has a passion for science and technology, thus inspiring young girls to follow their academic dreams,have ambitions in the STEM field, promote and acknowledge the work of all women engineers.

In order to make our voice be heard, we are planning educational activities for students to motivate them to explore the field of science and erase the fear that engineering is not for girls, as well as have inspiring talks from female engineers with academic and/or corporate background to present every aspect of the profession.

We believe that engineering is more than a profession. It gives you important life skills like organization, persistence and strategic thinking. Our team is not just for women, is for everyone who agrees with our values, team goals and believes in equal rights despite the gender.
