This not-to-be-missed social event aims to provide PhD students and young professionals, with an opportunity to expand their network of contacts. It is organized by the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS) and supported by the IEEE ITSS German Chapter, and it is open for all ITS practitioners in general, and for the IEEE IV 2022 conference participants in particular.

Attendance is by registration only; tickets are available for purchase via the conference registration website. The number of tickets is limited. Tickets will be made available on a first come, first served basis, with priority to IEEE ITSS student members and members who are within 15 years of receiving their first professional degree. Note that IEEE members are not ITSS member by default (ITSS membership is additional, on top of IEEE membership). Therefore, you are only bindingly registered after we have checked your status and sent you a confirmation by e-mail. Until then, your registration is only an application.

The social event is planned to be on Saturday June 4th, 2022, to act as an icebreaker before the conference official start with workshops on Sunday. The agenda will be as follows:

14:00 – 16:00 Tour of Aachen old town by foot

Get to know the many facets of the historic old town: winding alleys, historical places, fountains, and old town houses. At a guided tour history is brought to life. Whether Aachen Cathedral, town hall or dolls fountain; you will see the most beautiful places of Aachen old town, hear exciting stories, and get a chance to eat the unique Aachener Printen.
16:00 – 18:30 The “Dreiländereck”

Get on a bus or hike to the Dreiländer-Punkt (Three-Country Point), where Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium meet. Surrounded by varied nature, the area offers various hiking trails and viewing platforms. Furthermore, there are many restaurants and cafés to choose from with the different cuisines.
19:00 – 22:00 Grill evening at Humboldt-Haus

The Humboldt Haus is the international community center of RWTH Aachen University, and as the saying goes: “good food makes a good day”. So just like

The cost of the entire program is 15€ per person. A packed snack and the barbecue buffet is included. In addition, we would like to invite you to the first two drinks at Humboldt House and afterwards other drinks are purchasable at fair prices. Come and join the ITSS students and young professionals social event and experience Aachen unique and stunning surrounds. This is going to be a memorable evening. A variety of catering including special local drinks will be offered. You will enjoy an experience that you cannot get anywhere else.

In addition to this program, we are happy to assist you with other activities or connect you with the Aachen Tourist Service.

As an example we have picked out a beer tasting. The two-hour tasting with six beers costs 30€ per person. This event must be booked by at least eight participants, otherwise it cannot take place. The possible dates are:
