GRSS-CNI CHAPTER
The IEEE Central-North Italy Geoscience and Remote Sensing (GRS29 CH08279) Chapter has been formally established in 1998 by Prof. Domenico Solimini (http://www.grss-ieee.org/about/history/chapterhistory) and is one the GRSS Chapters around the world (http://www.grss-ieee.org/community/chapters).
The GRSS-CNI Chapter organizes activities on the following topics of GRS:
– Seminars
– Workshops
– Conferences
– Awards
– Laboratories
The current location of the GRSS Chapter is at Institute of Applied Physics – National Research Council in Florence, Italy, but the activities are distributed all over Italy.
Members of the IEEE GRSS Central-North Italy chapter are involved in geoscience and remote sensing related activities. Most of the affiliations come from University and Research Institutes, but a small percentage of members is affiliated with large, medium and small companies, professionals and technicians.
CHAPTER MEMBERSHIP
IEEE membership is open to professionals and Students with varying levels of academic accomplishment and work experience. Technical and non-technical applicants who would benefit by membership and participation in the IEEE enter as Associate members. Member and Senior Member grades recognize those who have achieved professional proficiency, as demonstrated by degrees received and/or work experience.

Member role: S=Student, A=Associate, M=Member, SM=Senior Member, F=Fellow, LM=Life Member, AF=Affiliate.

ELEVATION TO SENIOR MEMBER
If you can answer yes to these three questions, you are eligible to upgrade your status to the grade of Senior Member:
1. Are you an engineer, scientist, educator, technical executive or originator in an IEEE field?
2. Have you been in professional practice for at least ten years (can include 3 years for degree study in an IEEE-designated field, 4 years for degree plus masters, or 5 years for a PhD)?
3. Have you shown significant performance over a period of at least five of those years? This can be in roles such as team leader, task supervisor, researcher with some measure of success (papers), or faculty developing and teaching courses with research and publications.

The Fellows Program was established to recognize and honor outstanding members for their significant accomplishments in the advancement or application of engineering, science, and technology and for their contributions to the mission of the IEEE: to advance global prosperity by fostering technological innovation, enabling members’ careers and promoting community worldwide.
