Salwa Baserrah has received her Phd in mechatronics from University of Bremen, Germany in 2014 & M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at University of Bahrain. She joined Robert Bosch GmbH Gasoline Systems- Electric Vehicles & Hybrid Systems-Powertrain in Germany in 2013 as a senior development engineer for electrical machines in electrical cars where her focus area was modeling & measuring the noise in electrical machines from electromagnetic waves and mechanical construction towards optimization solutions. She worked in industrial projects for companies Daimler-Mercedes, Porsche, and BMW. She achieved the Outstanding Paper Award in 2010 in IEEE-International Conference in Electrical Machines ICEMS-Korea for her contributions in the design of transverse flux machines. She joined University of Bahrain in January 2018 as assistant professor working in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. She is since October 2019 the Director of Quality Assurance Office (QAO) in the College of Engineering at University of Bahrain.

Her major research interests are designing & modelling electric machines for electric & hybrid cars, noise estimation as well as designing mechatronic & electrical drive systems.

She is a senior member in IEEE, Chair of Women in Engineering (WiE)-IEEE-Bahrain Section, VDI- Association of German Engineers, and member in DEGA e.V.: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Akustik & Bahrain Society of Engineers.
