Student Branch Hardware Contests Program

This program is designed to support Student Branches across the Region in organizing local hardware contests, encouraging students to develop innovative hardware-based projects. 

This program aims to: 

  • Provide financial support for Student Branches to organize local hardware contests. 
  • Encourage students to apply their technical knowledge in developing hardware-based projects. 
  • Promote embedded systems, automation, and microcontroller-based solutions. 
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork among students in designing and prototyping hardware solutions. 
  • Increase participation and awareness of Student Branches in Hardware Contests.

Additional Rules

In addition to the General Terms and Conditions, the following rules apply:

  • Applications can be submitted by Student Branches only.
  • Participants must be IEEE student members affiliated with the organizing unit.
    • You will be requested on your outcome report to provide a list with all participants and their membership numbers along with the new members recruitment statistics due to the contest.
  • Student contests must adhere to the MGA Guidelines for Competitions and Contests.
  • The contest should involve hardware projects. You will be requested on your outcome report to provide:
    • A 5-minute video explaining top 3 projects, showcasing the functionality of the functioning prototype demonstrating the hardware solution. 
    • A technical presentation (slides) summarizing the design process, components used, and project impact, along with a technical report detailing the hardware architecture, software implementation, and real-world applications (also include demonstration code and circuit schematics in appendices, if applicable).

Funding Specifications

The program provides financial support of up to $400, while the funding amount must not exceed ⅔ of the total event expenses.

 
 

Submission Requirements

The proposal must be maximum 10 pages (excluding endorsement letters) and contain the following information:

Judging Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

  • Content quality and solid planning 
  • Alignment with program goals 
  • Technical challenges & innovation
  • Format of the contest
