Chair
Theodoros is a PhD Candidate in the ECE Dept of the Democritus University of Thrace, where he has received his Engineering Diploma with Integrated Master. His research interests focus on future and emerging computing systems and cutting-edge technologies with a focus on memristive circuits. As an active volunteer, he is currently serving the IEEE Region 8 as Vice-Chair, Student Activities, SAC Chair and HTAC Past-Chair. He has served various IEEE units including MGA SAC, Region 8, and his local Student Branch. He has received the IEEE MGA Young Professionals Achievement Award, the IEEE CASS Pre-Doctoral Grant, and the IEEE MGA Larry K. Wilson Regional Student Activities Award, among others.
Past Chair
Abdullateef Aliyu is the General Manager of Projects at Phase 3 Telecom, with expertise in telecommunications and technology. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering (BUK) and an MSc in ICT (Northern University of Malaysia) and has certifications including PMP, CSM, and USTTI training amongst others. Abdullateef has expanded Phase 3 Telecom’s 10,000 km optical infrastructure and led the DWDM transmission backbone deployment (2019–2022). A Senior Member of IEEE, Member of Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), he founded the IEEE Smart Village Africa Working Group and chaired R8 Student Activities (2023–2024). His work has earned numerous awards, including the MGA Young Professionals Achievement Award.
Student Representative
Abdulrahman Mohammed is a Master’s student at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Power Engineering. He is also an Electrical Quality Engineer at ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC PSP, a leading Company in the Field of Power Plants. Abdulrahman currently serves as the Regional Student Reversative of Region 8 and is a member of the MGA SAC. He served as the Region 8 Local Student Paper Contest Coordinator and joined the MGA Awards judging as a member of the R8 SAC CAR AdHoc Committee. He was the Vice-Chair of the R8 NASYP 2023. He served in SAC, YP, and SIGHT Egypt and is currently the MD Officer. He won many MGA Awards with his Student Branch.
Ad-hoc Chair
Khaldoun Taktak is an engineering student at Telecom SudParis. Khaldoun has served in various poisitions before including being of the IEEE MGA SAC in 2024 and the chair of the IEEE Region 8 AdHoc committee on training and leadership support. Previously, he was also chair of the IEEE Region 8 Student and Young Professional Congress in 2022 which was held in Tunis, Tunisia. As a dedicated and active IEEE volunteer, Khaldoun firmly believes that volunteering and engineering combined together will help advance technology for the benefit of humanity especially when derived from students.
Ad-hoc Chair
Ala is a 26 y/o, Software Engineer specializing in Data Science, currently working as the Lead Data Scientist at DeepVolt and technical consultant at Oratio Technologies. Ala joined IEEE in 2020, volunteered in various positions most notably as the IEEE ESPRIT Student Branch Chair, as well as the chair of the Tunisian SYP Congress 2022 Chair that happened in conjunction with the Young Professionals in Space congress. Currently Ala is volunteering as the chair of IES Student Activities Committee since 2023, Region 8 SAC Member and Region 8 AdHoc on Student Branch Leadership Support Chair.

Martyna Borak is a Biomedical Engineering student at the Silesian University of Technology, Poland, specializing in medical image analysis. As an active IEEE volunteer and IEEE SUT Student Branch Chair, she is a founder of an EMBS Student Branch Chapter and a WIE Student Affinity Group at SUT. Martyna joined IEEE Region 8 SAC in 2024 as a member of the AdHoc Committee on New Initiatives. She currently serves as the Chair of the R8SAC AdHoc Committee on Student Experience Portfolio Initiatives, IEEE Poland WIE Affinity Group Vice-Chair, and Poland Section Student Representative.
