Join the IEEE Region 8 Climate Challenges: Innovate for a Sustainable Future!

Are you ready to make a real impact on climate change through technology?

IEEE Region 8 under the coordination of the Student Activities Committee (SAC) is thrilled to announce the Disaster-Resilient Communication track of the IEEE Region 8 Climate Challenges, a series of international competitions aimed at tackling climate change by leveraging technological innovation.

The IEEE Region 8 Climate Challenges are designed to engage students, industry professionals, scientists, and entrepreneurs in developing technological solutions that address climate change. This track is important because we want solutions to address challenges in critical situations where infrastructure is compromised due to natural disasters. The goal is to find cost-effective and efficient ways to ensure real-time communication in disaster-hit areas.

This is your chance to develop alternative communication solutions and other technologies that could save people in the most critical life-or-death situations.

This is your opportunity to showcase your innovation in Bari (Italy) in November. It is your chance to contribute to global solutions while addressing local needs and to demonstrate how IEEE members can drive positive change for humanity.

Who Can Participate?

The Climate Challenges are open to IEEE Region 8 Students interested in applying their technical knowledge to real-world problems.

How to Participate?

1. Call for Solutions:

  • Form a Team:  Join forces with other passionate individuals who share your vision for a sustainable future. Solutions must be given by a Team (2-5 students) from the same Student Branch.
  • Submit your Application with the FORM: Answer all questions and provide a 100-word Abstract outlining your proposed solution by 20.09.2024. 11 PM (GMT). It is important to mention that a project prototype is welcomed but not mandatory. We are welcoming projects that are still just an idea!

The second round will be Video Submissions. Selected Abstracts will be called to submit a video from the team presenting their solution, from which the Finalists will be selected and invited to present their solutions at the finals in Bari, Italy.

Why Participate?

By joining the IEEE Region 8 Climate Challenges – Disaster-Resilient Communication Track, you’ll not only contribute to global climate solutions but also gain valuable experience, network with industry leaders at the International Humanitarian Technology Conference (IHTC) in Bari, and potentially see your innovation implemented on a large scale. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact while advancing your career and personal growth.

Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a program that combines technology with a humanitarian purpose. Submit your Abstract by 20.09.2024. 11 PM (GMT) and start your journey towards making the world a better place.
