Collaborative Student Initiatives Booster Program

This program is designed to foster collaboration among IEEE Student Branches (SBs), Student Branch Chapters (SBCs), SB Affinity Groups, and IEEE Sections. The program provides support and incentives for student-led initiatives that are innovative, impactful, and scalable, with the goal of strengthening teamwork at the sectional, cross-sectional, and regional levels. By encouraging student leaders to develop creative events that deliver value through professional, technical, and educational activities, the program enhances engagement and cooperation across IEEE communities.

The program aims to:

  • Foster collaboration among IEEE SBs, SBCs, SB WIE Affinity Groups, and IEEE Sections.
  • Encourage sectional, cross-sectional, and regional collaborations.
  • Support and incentivize student-led initiatives.
  • Enhance knowledge sharing and best practices exchange.
  • Increase the number and quality of collaborative projects.
  • Promote student engagement in IEEE.
  • Provide visibility and recognition for outstanding initiatives.

Additional Rules

In addition to the General Terms and Conditions, the following rules apply:

  • Applications can be submitted by either Sections or Student Branches.
  • The initiative ideas shall be new and not from the existing pool of IEEE Students programs.
  • The initiative ideas shall be aligned with the IEEE Students strategic roadmap initiatives:
    • Improve access to resources and learning opportunities.
    • Enhance the quality and variety of student activities.
    • Increase awareness and visibility of IEEE benefits.
    • Develop new engaging and inclusive programs.
    • Foster a strong sense of membership and belonging to a global community.
  • There should be at least 2 applicant OUs of the same level (Section / Student Branch).
  • One applicant only is considered the financially responsible (FR) OU:
    • The FR OU receives the funding from the program.
    • If the FR OU is a Student Branch, an additional endorsement from its Section Chair or Treasurer should be included.
  • Each OU can submit only 1 entry as the FR one and up to 2 entries in total.
  • Additional collaboration with the respective Section Young Professionals, evidenced with an endorsement letter, is highly encouraged and will be considered for the funding support provided.

Funding Specifications

The program provides financial support of up to $1,000, while the funding amount must not exceed 70% of the total event expenses.

 
 

Submission Requirements

The proposal must be maximum 8 pages (excluding endorsement letters) and contain the following information:

  • Description of the proposed initiative idea
  • List of all applicant OUs’ names and contact person
    • Provide a list of responsibilities for each unit
  • Goals and KPIs
    • Provide a short timeframe with milestones
  • How does the idea align with the IEEE Students strategic roadmap initiatives?
    • It doesn’t have to align with all of them
  • What are the benefits for the students?
  • Provide a detailed projected budget
  • Additional information (optional)

Judging Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

  • Innovation and Originality
  • Solid content and Planning
  • Usability and Benefits to Students
  • Scalability and Sustainability
  • Alignment with MGA SAC goals
  • Involvement of all parties in the organization and participation
