UPDATED: Guidelines for IEEE Nigeria Section General Election 2019

Hello friends/volunteers, it is time again to launch our election to produce competent hands to manage our affairs for the next 2 years.

Here are the guidelines for the election:

Each interested member of IEEE Nigeria will fill a form online:  https://forms.gle/nJgmHgtUj5uKRfKS6   and submit his/her passport photograph and resume to  tunde.s@ieee.org. Each contestant must write a short manifesto indicating what he/she has done and intend to do to elevate IEEE Nigeria. This will be reviewed by the Screening committee made up of Past Chairs, as members of Nominations and Appointment Committee. The decision of N & A committee is final.

A list of two qualifying members will be published per position. The attributes and manifesto of the contestants will be available online for review by members and published on the election portal. Election period of not less than 2 weeks will be declared after which the results will be declared in 5 days. Students will not participate in voting.

Email addresses of members may be made available to contestants who may want to appeal for votes.

QUALIFICATION

Only the following positions will be contested for

Chair:

• At least 6 years continuous IEEE membership.
• Must be a Senior Member.
• Occupation of EXCO position for at least 4 years.
• Evidence of substantial contribution to IEEE Nigeria activities.
• Must show evidence of accomplishment in previous position(s) held in his/her career and professional body(ies).
• Show evidence of Professional accomplishments.
• Must present realistic manifesto.
• Nomination must be endorsed by two financial members.

Vice Chair:

• At least 5 years continuous IEEE membership.
• Participation at the highest level at society and/or section in Nigeria for at least 4 years.
• Evidence of substantial contribution to IEEE Nigeria activities.
• Must show evidence of accomplishment in previous position(s) held in his/her career and professional body(ies).
• Nomination must be endorsed by two financial members.

Secretary

• At least 5 years continuous IEEE membership.
• Evidence of administrative skill and readiness to volunteer his/her time for IEEE.
• Evidence of substantial contribution to IEEE Nigeria activities.
• Must show evidence of accomplishment in previous position(s) held in his/her career and professional body(ies).
• Must present us with a realistic manifesto.
• Nomination must be endorsed by two financial member.

Assistant Secretary

• At least 5 years continuous IEEE membership.
• Evidence of administrative skill.
• Evidence of substantial contribution to IEEE Nigeria activities.
• Must show evidence of accomplishment in previous position(s) held in his/her career and professional body(ies).
• Nomination must be endorsed by two financial member.

Publicity Secretary

• At least 2 years continuous IEEE membership.
• Evidence of very good communication and administrative skill.
• Evidence of substantial contribution to IEEE Nigeria activities.
• Must show evidence of accomplishments in previous position(s) held in his/her career and professional body(ies).
• Competence in HTML, graphics software and PR is desired.
• Nomination must be endorsed by two financial member.

Asst. Publicity Secretary

• At least 2 years continuous IEEE membership.
• Evidence of very good communication and administrative skill.
• Evidence of substantial contribution to IEEE Nigeria activities.
• Must show evidence of accomplishments in previous position(s) held in his/her career and professional body(ies).
• Competence in HTML, graphics software and PR is desired.
• Nomination must be endorsed by two financial member.

Treasurer

• At least 5 years continuous IEEE membership.
• Evidence of administrative skill and holding executive position.
• Evidence of substantial contribution to IEEE Nigeria activities.
• Must show evidence of accomplishment in previous position(s) held in his/her career and professional body(ies).
• Evidence of numerical/financial skill is desired.
• Evidence of performing similar function with dent desired.
• Nomination must be endorsed by one financial member.

 Students Coordinator

• At least 1 years continuous IEEE membership.
• Evidence of IEEE SB leadership experience.
• Evidence of administrative skill and participation in IEEE activities as a student.
• Evidence of substantial contribution to IEEE Nigeria activities.
• Must show evidence of accomplishment in previous position(s) held in his/her career and professional body(ies).
• Nomination must be endorsed by one financial member.

 General Rules:

All contestants must submit their CV along with their application online.

All contestants must have TWO (2) referees who must endorse their candidacy.

The decision of steering committee on those to be on the ballot is final

No member of the N&A committee may serve as a referee to any candidate.
