The 1st edition of the IEEE Virtual event conference was held on the 13th of September, 2018 at the Mechatronics Engineering NI Lab, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, (FUTO). The meeting commenced at 2:30pm. Over 60 registered participants gathered in person to watch presentations and to discuss ideas with fellow attendees on Smart-grid Security. This First webinar provided Cyber-Security definitions & Technical Considerations of 5G Critical infrastructure. The Ag. Head of Mechatronics Engineering department (Engr. Dr. F.I. Izuegbunam) declared the event open after presenting some insightful trends on Smartgrid innovation. An invited guest Speaker – Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Amadi, (a Microsoft/Cisco Certified expert from IMT department, FUTO) presented on Cyber Security and Attack Vectors.  The virtual  event Speaker –  Dr. Bani-Ahmed, (Lead Engineer of Power Systems Cyber- Security at  Eaton Corporation, Corporate Research and Technology, Dublin, Ireland) handled  the topic “The outbreak of Smart Grid Cyber-Security: The Modern Campfire Story”. The FUTO Branch councilor/event coordinator- Engr. Dr. Kennedy Chinedu Okafor anchored the event. The covered topics by the lead speaker include: Overview and Definitions of smart-grid security, the Path from philosophy to science to corporeality, Cyber-physical perspective (Requirements and developments), Where to go (resources, targets), & how to go (backgrounds, starting point).
