Engr Somolu

With deep regret but with utmost submission to the will of the Almighty God, the IEEE Nigeria Section Chair, Prof.  Gloria A. Chukwudebe, FNSE sadly write to inform IEEE Community of the passing-on of Engr. Foluseke Abidemi Somolu, a Life Member and a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., (IEEE).

Engr. Foluseke Somolu, FNSE, FAEng, FNIM, FIET/FIEE, SMIEEE was the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) President, 2002-2003. He was an excellent power engineer and a role model for all in the Engineering Family. He co-authored the book: “The Development of the Nigerian Electric Power System 1973-1990”.  He played a crucial role in reviving IEEE Nigeria Section.

Indeed, ‘death is a depressingly inevitable consequence of life’, the Engineering family in West Africa has truly lost a great gem, irreplaceable without God’s assistance and guidance. The death of Engr. Foluseke Abidemi Somolu has left many in shock and great awe.

‘Seke (as he is fondly called), was born in Abeokuta on July 14, 1946.  He died after a brief illness on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife, Engr. Dr Mrs. Arinola Somolu, FNSE and children. Final burial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.

We thank God for making our paths cross and we sympathize with the ‘Foluseke Somolu’ family at this time.

May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

Further details about his achievement can be read from Here

Warmest Regards

Engr. Prof Gloria Chukwudebe , FNSE, SMIEEE, MNCS.
