Chair

Elio Aoun is an accomplished young professional with a passion for engineering and technology. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer and Communications Engineering from Notre Dame University - Louaize (NDU) in 2020 and recently completed his Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the same institution in 2024.

Elio has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills through his involvement in various professional organizations. He previously served as the Chair of IEEE Young Professionals Lebanon, where he played a pivotal role in empowering young engineers and fostering innovation. Currently, he is the Chair of the IEEE Computer Society - Lebanon Chapter and serves as the Lead for the IEEE Region 8 Computer Society SYP Congress, further solidifying his commitment to advancing the field of computer engineering.
Previously, Elio served as the Chair of the IEEE NDU Student Branch for two consecutive years, where he led the organization to significant achievements. He also held the role of Student Activities Coordinator for the IEEE Lebanon Joint Chapter (IE13/PE31/CAS04/PEL35), further showcasing his ability to drive impactful initiatives.

Elio’s research interests and professional expertise span a wide range of areas, including Embedded Systems, Computer Vision, Computer Networks, Cloud Computing, and IT Service Management. He is also dedicated to knowledge sharing and has organized numerous workshops on topics such as MATLAB, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and Cloud Computing, inspiring the next generation of engineers.

Elio continues to contribute to the engineering community through his leadership, research, and dedication to fostering innovation and collaboration.

Khouloud Samrouth
Secretary

Khouloud Samrouth is a highly accomplished academic and researcher specializing in telecommunication engineering, image and signal processing, and artificial intelligence. She holds a PhD from INSA of Rennes, France, and the Lebanese University and serves as an Assistant Professor and the coordinator of the MSc Program at Arab Open University, Lebanon. With extensive teaching experience across multiple universities, she has a prolific research publication record and leads research on deepfake cyberthreat detection. A certified Huawei ICT Academy Instructor, she possesses advanced skills in AI programming and various programming languages.

Mohamad Kassab
Treasurer

Engr. Mohamad Kassab is a Telecom Engineer Manager at Nour El-Hoda for Trading and Communication (Connext ISP). He earned his ABET-accredited Bachelor of Computer and Communication Engineering from Notre Dame University-Louaize.

Since 2018, he has served as the Social Media Coordinator in the IEEE Lebanon Section. He is an active member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and The Order of Engineers and Architects in Tripoli (OEA).

In 2023-2024, he was elected as the Vice-Chair of the IEEE Computer Society - Lebanon Section, and for 2025-2026, he was elected as the Treasurer. He can be reached at majkassab@ieee.org.
