Dear Colleagues,

We warmly invite you to the PhD Summer School of Information Engineering (SSIE 2025), co-organized by the Department of Information Engineering (DEI) at the University of Padova (Italy) and the IEEE Italy Section, with technical co-sponsorship from the Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Italy Chapter. SSIE will take place in the beautiful Bressanone/Brixen, Italy, on July 7-11, continuing on a decades-long tradition.

*** PROGRAM ***

Shaping the Evolution of Machine Learning in the Fields of Information Engineering and Security: From Theory to Practice

The School program has been carefully shaped, securing talks from leading experts in the ICT field. This year, the program will feature seminars related to the new frontiers of machine learning in the fields of
information engineering and security, and its applications (including cybersecurity and forensics, energy efficiency, signal analysis, and industrial applications).

The program is available here: https://ssie.dei.unipd.it/technical-program-ssie-2025/

*** REGISTRATION ***

Registration is open until June 15th, 2025: https://ssie.dei.unipd.it/registration/
Note that SSIE also covers the costs of coffee breaks and lunches.

*** LOGISTICS ***

We have an agreement with the Grüner Baum Hotels in Bressanone, which will provide accommodation opportunities for the Summer School participants at discount prices. For additional information, see here: https://ssie.dei.unipd.it/logistics-accommodation/.

*** STUDENT WORKSHOP AWARD ***

SSIE will feature a half-day student workshop, where students will present their research activity. The best presentation will receive an award, jointly presented by the IEEE Italy Section and the Department of Information Engineering (DEI) at the University of Padova.

*** NETWORKING EVENTS ***

We are planning many exciting social activities to stimulate further opportunities for networking with other colleagues, speakers, and professors. In particular, we highlight our traditional Networking Hiking on the Dolomites with lunch on the mountain chalet on July 9th, combined with a Soft Skills training session about legislation and regulations on the use of AI in science.

*** 5 ECTS CREDITS ***

PhD Students participating in the School will be awarded 5 ECTS credits from their doctoral schools, upon passing an evaluation.

We look forward to seeing you in July in Brixen, to enjoy scientific talks and lectures, social events, plenty of fine food, relaxation and hiking in the Alps!

Warm regards,
