Ciprian Ionescu – Past Chapter Chair

Biography

Ciprian Ionescu graduated and obtained the M. S. degree in Electronics in 1988 at the University Politehnica Bucharest (formerly IPB), Romania, Faculty of Electronics. In June 1991, he joined the staff of Electronics Faculty, starting as Assistant Professor. He developed research activities at Fraunhofer Institut für Feskörpertechnologie – Munich in thick film technology domain (1996), in the frame of the doctoral studies. He obtained the PhD. degree in the field of material science for electronics, at the above mentioned University (1997).

Currently he is Professor at Faculty of Electronics, Department Electronics Technology and Reliability. Main teaching activities include “Passive Electronic Components”, “Electrical CAD”, “Electronic Materials”. He is responsible for the Passive Components Laboratory in the frame of UPB-CETTI (Center for Electronics Technology and Interconnection Techniques).

His current fields of research include: passive electronic components, microelectronic and electronic technologies (SMT, thick film and thin film technologies), thermal management, modeling and simulation in the field of electronic packaging. He is author or co-author of over 70 papers and 10 technical manuals.

He is past chair of the IEEE CPMT (now EPS) Hungary-Romania Joint Chapter. As major activities we can mention the regular meeting of the chapter members during the ISSE and SIITME conferences, support for TIE event and the corresponding reports to IEEE which emphasize the Chapter activities as one of the most active in the region. We can also mention the personal involvement in invitation of IEEE Distinguish Lecturers during several Chapter events.
