Using Sound to Hear, Image, and Treat Cardiovascular Function by Prof. Golemati

IEEE EMB Greece Webinar Series Opening with Professor Spyretta Golemati Opening a new IEEE EMB Greece Webinar Series, we are thrilled to invite you to our first webinar featuring Prof. Spyretta Golemati, the previous chair of EMB Greece, Associate Professor at the University of Athens. As an expert in biomedical engineering and ultrasound imaging, Professor Golemati will discuss on how the properties of sound can be used to assess complex physiological phenomena, beyond the conventional stethoscope and Doppler, as well as treat cardiovascular function. The program includes: - A short presentation about the Chapter by our EMB board Representatives. - A presentation on the topic "Using Sound to Hear, Image, and Treat Cardiovascular Function" by Prof. Golemati๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ”Š - Q&A session - Information about the next events ๐Ÿ“… Date: October 10th, 2024 โฐ Time: 18:00 (GMT+3) Registration Link (Open to all upon registration): https://authgr.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJUvce-ppz8oHtY4OQfLYJraMYd1LI_ViBl1#/registration About the speaker: Spyretta Golemati is Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. She holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Bioengineering from Imperial College London, UK. She is a member of IEEE-EMBS and IEEE-UFFC societies. She served as the chair of the Greek chapter of IEEE-EMB (2020-2023). She has been appointed Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE-EMB (2022-2024). She is Fellow of the European Alliance of Medical and Biological Engineering Societies (class 2022). She is alumna of the Fulbright Foundation-Greece. Her main research interests revolve around image analysis of vascular ultrasound images, and the identification of novel indices of arterial mechanics and pathophysiology of atheromatous plaque. More specifically, she applies mathematical image analysis methods (multiscale/multiresolution, block matching, machine learning) to investigate morphological and kinematic/mechanical phenomena of the arterial wall. She served as the Technical Program chair of the 2024 IEEE International Symposium of Biomedical Imaging.
